Sue Berg knows the Driftless Area - its steep hills, limestone outcroppings, meandering valley streams, and unique glacial history. She knows the changing moods of "Old Man River" - the tug of its strong currents, its isolated sandbars, and the sound of gentle waves lapping quietly against a boat's hull. She knows the distinctive character of Wisconsin's small river towns. She knows policemen get beat-up, shot, and sometimes killed. Yes, Sue Berg know her territory, and after reading Driftless Gold, you will, too. But best of all, she knows how to write a compelling story that keeps you guessing: who did that dastardly deed? Review by Harold Thorpe, August 10,
Sue Berg's Driftless Gold takes us to the bluffs, coulees, and winding roads along the Mississippi River in western Wisconsin. The dramatic landscape is blended into an irresistible tale of lost treasure and the scoundrels who will do anything to get their hands on it - even murder.
